Willie Nelson “Willy”

Willie Nelson, born in 2011, is a Sicilian Donkey. Willy has served in therapy programs his whole life, helping children navigate emotional and behavioral hardships. He was rescued in 2021, along with Frank Sinatra, from a barn that hit financial hardship and was no longer able to provide for them. Now at Spirit’s Promise, Willy will spend the rest of his days next to his lifelong friend, Frankie. We’ve come to learn that Willy has a Napoleon complex.  Standing at just 3 hands high, his personality and ego are much larger than he is. You’ll see him trying to chase other horses from their hay or charging the gates through the paddocks.  He’s constantly reminded who is in charge, yet it doesn’t stop him from trying!  With people, it’s a different story. He's the first of the herd to grab the attention of any human willing to show him some affection.

In addition to his meals consisting of Hay, Willy also receives a dewormer.
